It's will always be Kuba & Leia's focus to be a responsible, ethical and sustainable-led business.
For me. A tension will always exist between being an organisation that designs objects that improve the wellbeing and experiences of our feline friends and choosing the right materials that go into our products.
Despite being a young start-up business, we've learned that 'being responsible' is determined not just by how we make and ship our products, but just importantly the partners we choose to work with across the board. So we've worked hard to make sure the wider eco-system of our business is made up of partners that share our values.
Talking of values. Below we define what's important:
We have a set of values that underpins what we do:
Following these values is important to us. We will ensure our products never do any harm to cats, their owners and wherever possible the environment.
We choose our partners carefully. They are an extension of our business and many are like family and have been involved since day one.
They include product and mechanical design engineers, electronics, logistics, website and shipping, manufacturing, packaging, warehousing, accounting, banking, insurance and legal specialists.
We know and trust all our partners. Many run their own small business enterprises, and most are local to us.
We're connected by a love for great design and of course cats too. In fact everyone we partner with has at least one cat!
UPGRADE & EXTEND
Core to our sustainable approach is making sure all our products are designed to stand the test of time. As such our research and design process is underpinned by not just the product we want to make now but also what it could be in five or ten years time.
We believe in keeping things simple. Using technology sparingly and making sure any mechanical or moving parts have been designed so that wear and tear is kept to a minimum.
The LitterPod® is a great example of a product that's a modular design. Allowing us to repair and upgrade existing units as better functionality or technology becomes available.
An 'upgrade' instead of a 'new' approach allows us to dramatically reduce our manufacturing footprint and work with our customers to give you a great product long term. It's also - in our opinion - a much better option for customers than extended warranties or guarantees.
Check out this animation we created with more info:
We know many customers will have different questions, so we've worked hard to provide as much information as we can on our FAQs page and the product pages on this website.
In fact every product we make has a technical factsheet. These factsheets have information on what materials are involved in the manufacturing of each product. We also assess the sustainability of each component. One thing you can be 100% certain of is all our products are safe for cats!
We're also pleased to confirm that our packaging is fully recyclable or biodegradable.
If you ever have any questions on how we operate, our products or anything else we'd love to hear from you. Or head over to Chatty Cat - our members only forum - if you want to start a new discussion on a particular topic.
We're an independent boutique business that cares about cats, their owners and our paw-print on the world.
Our purpose is to design beautiful and useful products for cats.
As a small business we will always reinvest the majority of profits we make back into our people and partners - and always communicate and work closely with our brilliant customers around the world.
Who knows what the future will hold. But we hope you'll join us on our journey.
